While animals and plants have adapted to the environment, humans have modified each ecosystem based on their needs with a negative impact that accelerates exponentially since the industrial revolution. Despite this acceleration, industrial development as a source of pollution has not been important for human beings, it has been considered as an economic obstacle.

The pollution of the environment has effects on human life. One in five people around the world die each year due to factors related to the environmental pollution.

Some of the most important problems to combat are the gases released in industrial processes, toxic waste, non-degradable waste generated in the production and transformation of goods and services, and the extinction of plant and animal species. However, the most dangerous problem of environmental pollution on human life is the greenhouse effect.

For some time, the consequences of the environmental impact produced by the world population and the industry are making the governments of many countries aware of the need to adopt effective measures to curb and reduce pollution. The main targets of these measures are the population and the industrial sector.

Environmental problems can be solved by reducing the excessive consumption of natural resources and carbon emissions in the atmosphere, trying to control development processes. Recycling is another important activity. These measures, among others, are part of the sustainable development. It means ",to meet the needs of the present without compromising the survival of future generations",, which is the change of philosophy to be achieved.
