Ces dernières années, à la suite de la nouvelle révolution industrielle ou Industrie 4. 0, l'émergence de l'Internet industriel des choses (IIoT) et des usines intelligentes, cette adaptation est possible grâce à l'application des techniques les plus sophistiquées dans la conception de nouvelles installations ou dans la rénovation d'installations existantes.

Malgré toutes ces avancées technologiques et les contrôles exhaustifs effectués, il ne faut pas oublier que tout élément qui participe au processus productif va être soumis à une usure mécanique et électrique(eforces, charges, etc.) et sa vie utile est limitée. Pour éviter des pannes catastrophiques, des arrêts de production ou tout type de processus qui impliquent une augmentation des temps non-productifs et, par conséquent, une augmentation des coûts, il est extrêmement important de réaliser un bon entretien des machines, systèmes électriques, etc.

Traditionnellement, seuls deux types de entretien étaient considérés:

  • Correctif: la faute est résolue une fois qu'elle s'est déjà produite.
  • Préventive: examen périodique de tous ces éléments problématiques et leur remplacement si nécessaire.

Ces types de maintenance impliquent des coûts très élevés et inutiles dans la plupart des cas. Aujourd'hui, grâce à la technologie disponible, il est possible d'effectuer une maintenance prévictive consistant en une analyse complète de toutes les variables qui interviennent dans tous les composants d'un système et de pouvoir les remplacer au bon moment./div>

Mais, si l'on préfère mieux maîtriser les défaillances qui peuvent affecter tous ces composants mécaniques soumis à l'usure, il existe un autre type de maintenance, appelé maintenance proactive. Il va plus loin que la maintenance préventive, en cherchant la racine du problème.
