General Description

The Unit to Study Stress on a Membrane, "SSM", designed by EDIBON, allows the study of stresses and deformations in a thin disc or membrane subjected to different compressive stresses.

The main element of the equipment is a thin disc or membrane that is subjected to pressure and has eight strain gauges attached to its surface that allow the recording of the deformations produced.

A hydraulic system generates the pressure by means of a cylinder and a piston, which is measured by means of a manometer.

In addition, it is also possible to measure the deflection produced in the disc or membrane by means of a dial gauge which can be moved along the entire length of the thin disc. Curvature can be measured at any radius.
