DomoticsとInmoticsは、住宅や建物の自動化に焦点を当てた技術です。インテリジェントなエネルギー管理、侵入・火災に対するセキュリティ制御、照明制御、ブラインド制御、空調制御、アクセス制御など、さまざまな可能性を提供します。

Domoticsはホームオートメーションを担当する技術であり、それらをインテリジェントなシステムにするものであり、inmoticsはDomoticsと同じ目的を持った建物に適用されるオートメーション技術であるが、より大規模なものであり、結果的にインテリジェントな建物になる。どちらの技術も、デバイス（ハードウェア）の制御と管理のために、有線または無線ネットワーク（Zig-Bee）を介して統合された通信プロトコルとソフトウェアに基づいています。

ドモティックオートメーションシステムとインモティックオートメーションシステムの開発には、異なる通信規格があります。現在最も広く使用されているのは、KNX-EIB、LONworks、Z-WAVE、BacNetのプロトコルです。照明では、特にDALIの制御システムが重要です。これらのシステムはすべて、センサとアクチュエータを備えた独自のプログラミングソフトウェアを持っています。市販されているセンサとしては、例えば、プレゼンスセンサ、近接センサ、明るさセンサ、温度センサ、バリアセンサ、網膜センサ、赤外線センサ、水漏れを検知するための導電率センサ、ガスセンサ、一酸化炭素センサ、ガラス破損センサ、ドアや窓の磁気センサ、エネルギー消費量を測定するためのセンサなどが挙げられる。プログラミングソフトウェアを使用して、これらのデバイスを異なるアクチュエータ、例えば、水用電気バルブ、ガス用電気バルブ、照明制御用調光器、空き巣や火災警報用の音響警報器、バイナリ出力を持つデバイスなどに関連させた様々なシナリオを作成することが可能です。
