5.1.- スマートグリッドと電力システム

スマートグリッドは、電力システムが進化した結果です。これらは、持続可能で信頼性が高く経済的な方法で電気エネルギーの需要を管理する進化したネットワークです。これらは、スマートグリッドへの新しいコンポーネントの統合を容易にするために適応された高度なインフラストラクチャを特徴としています。

電力システムに再生可能エネルギーを取り入れることで、発電の分散化が顕著になってきています。そのため、キルヒホッフの法則によれば、電流はインピーダンスの低い電力線を通って、より多くの範囲で循環する傾向があることから、電力の流れの分布が大きな課題となっていた。これにより、電気ネットワークのバランスが大きく崩れ、性能が低下してしまいます。パワーエレクトロニクスの大きな進歩により、キルヒホフの法則に挑戦し、最も複雑な電力ネットワークにおける電力の流れを制御することに成功しました。

現在、電力の流れを制御するためにスマートパワーグリッドに統合されている最先端の技術開発には、位相シフト変圧器(PST)、フレキシブルAC送電システム(FACTS)、静的同期補償器(STATCOM)、サイリスタ制御直列コンデンサ(TCSC)、静的周波数変換器(SFC)などがあります。 これらの技術は、ネットワークの力率だけでなく、ネットワークの電力の流れを制御するために特定の変電所に設置されており、電気システム全体の性能を大幅に向上させることができます。

スマートグリッドに代表される技術の進化により、風力発電や太陽光発電などの再生可能エネルギーをグリッドに組み込むことが可能となり、電気自動車を社会に取り入れることが可能となりました。その結果、温室効果ガス(CO2)を大幅に削減することが可能になりました。
