General Description

Hearing loss is the diminished sensitivity to the sounds normally heard, which affects about 10% of the population. The early diagnosis is especially important in children, since a hearing loss may lead to difficulties in the learning of a language.

One of those diagnostic techniques is the audiometer test, which reproduces sounds at different frequencies and intensities for the patient to hear. This results in a graph which displays the audible threshold for the different tested frequencies.

The Computer Controlled Biomedical Auditory Diagnostic Teaching Unit, "BIADC", performs an audiometry test and displays its results witha diagnostic aim. It also allows the simulation of different hearing loss profiles via software.

The Computer Controlled Biomedical Auditory Diagnostic Teaching Unit, "BIADC", unit is provided with a set of practical exercises, through which the user will understand the basic principles of the audiometry test, as well as the auditory function and the main hearing loss patterns.

The Computer Controlled Biomedical Auditory Diagnostic Teaching Unit, "BIADC", includes:

  • Audiometer, a real device used to perform the audiometry test and analyze its results.
  • Ear simulator, which imitates the auditory function.

This Computer Controlled Unit is supplied with the EDIBON Computer Control System (SCADA), and includes: The unit itself + aControl Interface Box + a Data Acquisition Board + Computer Control, Data Acquisition and Data Management Software Packages, forcontrolling the process and all parameters involved in the process.
