6.- MECHATRONICS & AUTOMATION

Mechatronics and Automation are the areas of engineering focused on the study and develop of machinery to implement autonomous and smart industrial processes through computer and electronic control. This machinery is designed to increase the control and productivity of an industrial process, in addition to facilitating work to the human being. The motion control of machinery and actuators, the real-time control of variables of a process and the PLC automation increase the agility and efficiency with regard to the production of a machine, and reduce all those actions that do not add value to the final product or prolong the processes.

The need of the industry to automate current industrial processes has allowed the development of control elements, such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), which increase the speed and efficiency of both simple processes and complete industrial processes. The incorporation of assembly robots in assembly lines has increased the volume of work and the adjustment to production. In addition, Motion Control technologies, such as servomotors, make it possible to perform precise movements at specific positions, control speed or torque.

The continuous development of mechatronics technology is laying the foundations of smart production systems, improving the quality of the finished product while maintaining a constant quality, detecting faults at the right time and adapting production to the market, increasing the production and flexibility of the machines.
