The Three-phase Installations Faults Application, "AEL-AD33T", has been designed by EDIBON to study certain protections used in industrial installations. Using safety elements, students can simulate different faults and verify the reasons why each type of protection acts. This includes some innovative electrical devices for protecting people and installations against the effects of electrical current. These devices ensure the continuity of power availability as well as the safety of people. This application includes a three-phase transformer to simulate ground faults under safe conditions.

It is also possible to change the configuration of ground connection of the charges connected to the system. Some of those configurations are: TN, IT, TN-S, TN-C, TN-C-S.

The protections included are: three-phase differential protection, three-phase differential protection with automatic reset, and three-phase differential protection with variable sensitivity. To check all protections, a variable resistor is included to control current shunts. It also includes meters to determine the magnitude of the current shunt and verify the sensitivity of the protection.
