热力学是物理学的一个分支,致力于研究平衡系统中热量,功和能量的其他表现形式之间的相互作用。热力学原理解释了处于平衡状态的宏观系统的整体行为。

热力学不涉及传热过程,因为它仅研究初始状态和最终状态。这些过程属于热工学的范围,热工学的重点是确定实际热量和能量通量的传导,对流和辐射过程。

从历史上一直通过研究不同系统中的压力,体积和温度关系来研究解释热力学现象的基本定律:
