工业电子学是电子工程学的一个分支,主要研究工业级电子系统,即工业中使用的电子设备。电力电子学是工业电子学最重要的分支之一,它涉及控制和调节高电压和电流的电子应用开发。

与所有工程分支一样,工业电子技术的发展也以该领域的科学进步为标志。电力电子技术最重要的发展是以下半导体元件:可控硅整流器、GTO 晶闸管,尤其是 IGBT 晶体管。这些半导体元件与中央控制电路相结合,能够完成现代工业中的重要任务,如控制电动机、通过电压和电流调节控制工业设备的供应或开发电气逆变器和整流器。

由于电力电子技术的发展和控制系统的改进,工业电子技术还有很长的路要走,这些技术的安装成本越来越低,能够以更精确的控制处理更大的功率,扩大了其在电力系统(鼓励推广新的智能电网和微电网计划)、交通系统(高速列车、电动和混合动力汽车、电动摩托车等)、照明控制系统等方面的应用。将这些最新的工业电子技术应用于所有这些领域,可以提高能源效率,有助于减少污染,并促进系统的可持续发展。
