The Computer Controlled Satellite Unit, "ESA" designed by EDIBON, enables the study of modern satellite telecommunications systems (SATCOM), providing a practical understanding of their structure, operation, and logic through the analysis of the transmission and reception signal phases.
Thanks to its control software, the unit allows users to configure data transmission parameters, simulate failures, select test points, and monitor the real-time performance of the SATCOM system.
The unit is composed of three main blocks that interact with the software:
- Earth station transmission block: emulates a ground-based transmitting station that generates and sends signals to the satellite via its antenna, reproducing a real uplink connection.
- Satellite repeater block: emulates the behavior of an active satellite, receiving, amplifying, processing, and retransmitting the signal from the ground station on a different frequency, as in real satellite communication systems.
- Earth station reception block: represents the ground-based receiving station that captures the processed signal from the satellite,enabling its analysis, monitoring, and evaluation through the control software.
This Computer Controlled Unit is supplied with the EDIBON Computer Control System (SCADA), and includes: The unit itself + a Control Signals and Data Acquisition Module + a Data Acquisition Board + Computer Control, Data Acquisition and Data Management Software Packages, for controlling the process and all parameters involved in the process.
