The Automotive Starting and Charging Systems Unit, "AV-SCS", designed by EDIBON, is aimed at theoretical and practical training in the electrical ignition and charging systems of vehicles. This unit helps students develop skills to understand and analyze the operation of each component, such as the direct current starter motor, the alternator, the solenoid relay, the battery charging circuit, and the ignition switch. It also allows for the study of how different circuits are energized based on the position of the ignition key, simulating various phases of the system: from the initial activation of the electrical current, through preheating, to the complete engine startup.
The simulation is completed with an electric motor that emulates the combustion engine, which is connected to an alternator providing energy to the system, enabling the verification of the battery charge and testing key points of the starting circuit. Additionally, the "AV-SCS" includes an instrumentation panel that simulates common faults, helping students practice diagnosing failures and troubleshooting.
To enhance learning, the "AV-SCS" incorporates exercises that explore in detail the regulation of alternator voltage and battery management during charge and discharge cycles. It also includes fault simulation scenarios for components like the alternator, battery, and motor, allowing students to experience and resolve issues in a controlled environment.
Designed with the current and future challenges of the automotive industry in mind, the "AV-SCS" integrates advanced energy systems, preparing students to meet the demands of hybrid and electric vehicles. This unit includes, among other components, a combustion simulation motor, a 12 V battery, a fuse and relay block, and a frequency converter for motor control. Thanks to its integrated design, this unit provides hands-on experience in electrical circuits and energy management for modern vehicles.
