The Rotameter, "FME36", designed by EDIBON, is a variable area flowmeter with floater. This type of flowmeter can be used for flow measurements in almost any environment.
The operation mode of this type of flowmeter is based on the fact that if a fluid flows in an upward direction at a certain velocity through a vertically mounted pipe, the float rises to the point where a state of equilibrium is established between the upward force of the medium and the weight of the float.
Since the mean flow velocity is proportional to the amount flowing per unit time, this equilibrium state corresponds to the instantaneous flow measurement.
An additional advantage of this type of flowmeter is that it does not require minimum straight pipe runs, therefore it can be installed directly before or after elbows and valves as the pressure loss is low.
