8.- MEKANIKA FLUIDA

Cabang Mekanika Fluida mempelajari hukum perilaku fluida pada diam (fluida statika ) atau dalam gerak (fluida dynamics ) dan proses interaksinya dengan benda padat. Fluida dianggap sebagai zat yang dapat mengalir , dengan kata lain bergerak. Diantaranya terdapat zat cair (air, minyak, alkohol, susu, asam sulfat, bensin) dan gas (udara, oksigen, nitrogen, helium, argon, metana, butana, gas alam).

Cairan dapat ditemukan di mana saja dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, dari udara yang mengelilingi kita, air di kolam renang dan untuk irigasi, sistem hidrolik yang memungkinkan kita untuk mengerem mobil kita, pemanas atau AC, ke sistem darah kita sendiri. Studi fluida didasarkan pada prinsip terkenal Archimedes dan Pascal, persamaan Bernoulli, Venturi efek atau hukum Darcy , antara lain. Bidang Teknik Mekanika Fluida yang mencari penerapan dipelajari secara empiris dan secara matematis, menyoroti bilangan tak berdimensi seperti Reynolds, Prandtl, Mach dan Froude . Pentingnya prinsip mekanika fluida meninggalkan penemuan-penemuan yang umum, seperti air transfer melalui saluran, maritim dan transportasi udara, mesin hidrolik, termal dan pneumatik, solusi untuk masalah kavitasi atau water hammer dalam pipa, hidrolik dan transmisi pneumatik dan kontrol, dll.

Mengingat relevansi fluida dalam berbagai aplikasi, penting untuk mengetahui sifatnya, yaitu jenis fluida dan mendeskripsikannya berdasarkan properti. Yang paling signifikan adalah: tekanan, suhu, volume, kepadatan, viskositas, kompresibilitas, panas spesifik, ekspansi termal, dan daya larut.
