8.6.- AERODINAMIKA

Aerodinamika adalah bagian dari mekanika fluida yang mempelajari gas dalam gerakan dan gaya atau reaksi yang menyebabkan benda yang berinteraksi dengan gas-gas tersebut terkena. Selain pentingnya aerodinamika itu sendiri, nilai kontribusinya terhadap aeronautika harus ditambah. Sesuai dengan angka Mach atau kecepatan relatif suatu benda bergerak terhadap udara, aerodinamika dibagi menjadi subsonik dan supersonik menurut apakah bilangan tersebut kurang dari atau lebih besar dari satu.

Dalam mekanika fluida, dalam studi tentang gas, udara biasanya digunakan, menjadi variabel utama yang biasanya dihitung kecepatan, tekanan, gaya tarik, atau gaya angkat, dll. Terowongan angin adalah perangkat yang banyak digunakan dalam pengujian mekanika fluida untuk menentukan aksi angin pada berbagai jenis benda. Model yang akan dipelajari tetap diam, sementara aliran bergerak. Bagian utama dari terowongan aerodinamis adalah: kipas, diffuser, ruang, bagian kontraksi dan bagian tes.

Setiap kali kita memindahkan atau melempar benda, sejumlah prinsip fisik yang biasanya tidak kita perhatikan berlaku. Mengetahui prinsip-prinsip aerodinamika berguna untuk daftar panjang aktivitas, mulai dari lepas landas dan mengemudikan pesawat, hingga mengendarai kendaraan atau melempar bola.
