The Wiring Installation Training, Mains Connection and Meters in Buildings application, "WIT-MCB", has been designed by EDIBON for the students formation at a proffessional-practical level in the field of the installation, wiring and testing of mains connection and meters in buildings. The objective of this team is to show a practical case of a real application of these devices and to go deeper into their operation.
For this, three-phase digital meters will be used with their respective protections, a main and a secondary busbar that simulates the distribution of a real installation and some fluorescent lights that simulate the loads and consume active and reactive power and thus, be able to make a study and reading of the complete digital meter.
This application will provide the future professionals with the knowledge and essential skills on electric installations of residential connection through the installation and wiring of those mechanical and electrical elements of a building subdistribution line, such as meters cabinets, lamps and different switches. Moreover, the students will leave with the fundamental skills to face tomorrow the installation of electrical measurement in a house, company, factory, etc., as well as its maintenance or modification in case of failure.
It will be essential for electricians to handle the electrotechnical language and to be fluent with electrical variables (voltage, current, active and reactive power, energy, etc.) to be able to understand the operation of these devices, read the data correctly and be able to transmit it to the customer.
Due to the growing expansion of smart meters carried out by the main electric grid operators, in this application a Smart Meter and a Data Concentrator are recommended to train the students in wiring and commissioning of these devices. Nowadays, in practically all electrical installations of any type where an electricity tariff is contracted with a retailer, the relevant distribution company will install a smart meter for each customer which, in turn, will be connected upstream to a data concentrator where the rest of the meters in the same residential area, industrial estate, shopping center, etc. will converge.
The data concentrator, in turn, will communicate with the distributor through a remote management system (STG) that will allow the company to read, monitor or cut off the electricity supply to any customer in its charge.
Therefore, the smart meter and data concentrator kit is a highly recommended option to be updated on what is used today in the field of electricity companies.
