8.7.- MÁQUINAS DE FLUIDOS

Uma área especial de aplicação,área de aplicação em fluido mecânica é a responsável pelo estudo do fluido máquinas. As máquinas de fluidos são dispositivos que convertem a energia do fluido que passa através delas ou transferem energia para o fluido.

Esse fluido pode ser gás, vapor ou líquido. Com base nesta definição, as máquinas de fluidos podem ser classificadas da seguinte forma:

  • Power gerando máquinas.
  • Turbinas: o binário e a potência são fornecidos no eixo como resultado da variação da quantidade de movimento do fluido que passa através deles.
  • Turbinas eólicas: a energia cinética do vento é transformada em energia mecânica.
  • Potência consumidor máquina.
  • Bombas: a energia mecânica é fornecida ao fluido sob a forma de trabalho para substituir a queda de pressão sofrida pelos fluidos devido à fricção nas tubagens.
  • Fans: grandes quantidades de gás são movimentadas como resultado do aumento de pressão gerado. Há dois tipos básicos de ventiladores: o bastão ou o centrífugo ventilador e o fluxo axial ventilador.
  • Compressores: uma menor quantidade de fluxo é movida se comparada com os ventiladores, mas o aumento de pressão é muito maior.

As máquinas têm sido concebidas desde os tempos antigos com o objectivo de utilizar a energia fornecida pela natureza. Por exemplo, a conversão de energia mecânica em energia hidráulica por máquinas é de grande interesse para a maioria dos engenheiros e técnicos. Algumas máquinas hidráulicas clássicas são a roda d'água romana ou a prensa hidráulica. Actualmente, estamos rodeados de máquinas fluidas na nossa vida quotidiana. Alguns exemplos são as aeronaves motores, a circuito bombas em piscinas ou carros, os moinhos de vento, a arrefecimento ventiladores em computadores ou os ventiladores usados em casa.
