GAMBARAN UMUM
The Computer Controlled Acoustic Impedance/Acoustic Insulation Study Unit, "TIAC", designed by EDIBON, enables a detailed and precise analysis of the acoustic response of construction materials and coatings when subjected to incident sound waves. Based on the impedance tube principle, the unit reproduces the standing wave phenomenon in a rigid duct, allowing for the quantitative study of acoustic impedance, absorption coefficient, and reflection characteristics of the tested materials. Owing to its design, the unit is suitable both for technical training in fields such as acoustics, mechanics, or civil engineering, and for applied research in the development and evaluation of materials and noise control systems.
The unit consists of a transparent test tube made of rigid material, which acts as a waveguide for the sound generated by two loudspeakers located at its ends. These loudspeakers, controlled through the software, produce acoustic signals with variable frequency, allowing harmonic conditions to be adjusted according to the type of material or test being performed.
The test tube includes a high-sensitivity movable microphone whose axial position can be varied by means of a guiding and measuring system visible through a graduated scale. This arrangement makes it possible to record sound pressure variations along the tube and to determine the spatial distribution of nodes and antinodes of the standing wave. The collected data are transmitted to the software, which displays in real time the pressure, phase, and absorption coefficient curves of the analyzed material.
At the end of the tube, the test sample is mounted, acting as a reflective or absorptive surface depending on its characteristics. The unit includes several test samples (such as felt, cork, acoustic foam, particleboard, or carpet), allowing users to study the influence of density, stiffness, and porosity on sound attenuation. In this way, users can compare the acoustic behavior of different materials and correlate it with their physical properties.
This Computer Controlled Unit is supplied with the EDIBON Computer Control System (SCADA), and includes: The unit itself + a Control Interface Box + a Data Acquisition Board + Computer Control, Data Acquisition and Data Management Software Packages, for controlling the process and all parameters involved in the process.
