Los Generadores Eléctricos Doblemente Alimentados (DFIG) son máquinas de inducción asíncronas de las cuales se puede extraer energía eléctrica tanto del devanado del estator como del devanado del rotor gracias a la tecnología puntera basada en inversores bidireccionales (back to back inverters). Estos inversores son capaces de controlar el flujo de potencia bidireccionalmente entre el rotor de la máquina y la red eléctrica.
