The Computer Controlled Marcet Boiler Unit, "TECMC", has been designed by EDIBON for the experimental study of the relationship between pressure and temperature of saturated steam in equilibrium with water. This unit allows the analysis of the thermodynamic behavior of water during the heating and steam generation process, facilitating the understanding of principles associated with phase changes, saturation conditions and the behavior of real gases compared to the ideal model.
The unit allows the experimental determination of the water saturation pressure curve over a wide operating range, from atmospheric pressure up to 18 bar, enabling comparison between experimental results and published thermodynamic tables and data. Thus, the practical study of fundamental concepts such as saturation temperature, saturation pressure and liquid-vapor equilibrium is facilitated, all of them widely used in thermal engineering, power generation and industrial processes.
The unit consists of a thermally insulated stainless steel water boiler designed to minimize heat losses during operation. Inside the boiler there is an immersion heater responsible for supplying the thermal energy required for water heating and saturated steam generation. The heater includes temperature limitation to guarantee safe operating conditions.
The unit instrumentation includes temperature sensors and pressure sensors that continuously measure the saturated steam properties inside the boiler. The recorded values are acquired and processed through the computer control system, allowing graphical representation and analysis of the evolution of thermodynamic variables during the tests.
The unit incorporates several safety elements intended to guarantee safe operation under high-pressure conditions. These include a safety valve and a high-pressure switch that automatically limit the maximum operating pressure of the boiler.
The Computer Controlled Marcet Boiler Unit, "TECMC", also includes piping with regulation valves located at the upper and lower sections of the boiler. These allow filling operations, water level checking, draining and steam venting to a suitable drain, preventing steam release into the working area.
For safety reasons, the unit is protected by transparent shields that allow visualization of the operation and safe access to the operating valves.
This Computer Controlled Unit is supplied with the EDIBON Computer Control System (SCADA), and includes: The unit itself + a Control Interface Box + a Data Acquisition Board + Computer Control, Data Acquisition and Data Management Software Packages, for controlling the process and all parameters involved in the process.
