The Spiral Torsion Spring Vibration Unit, "MVRE", has been designed by EDIBON for the experimental study of the phenomena associated with spiral torsion springs and mass-spring systems. The unit allows a practical understanding of the principles governing elastic deformation, restoring torque generation, and the vibratory behavior of oscillating systems.

The unit consists of a rigid structure equipped with a rotating horizontal shaft on which the different test elements are mounted. A graduated disk for angular displacement measurement, a lever arm allowing masses to be positioned at different distances from the rotation axis, and a spiral torsion spring connected between the shaft and the structure are mounted on the shaft.

When the system is displaced from its equilibrium position, the spring undergoes elastic deformation and generates a restoring torque proportional to the applied angular displacement. This behavior allows the determination and analysis of the spring stiffness constant and its influence on the dynamic response of the system.

The symmetrical placement of masses on the lever arm creates a mass-spring system that, when disturbed, performs periodic motion characterized by a specific vibration frequency. This arrangement makes it possible to study the influence of the moment of inertia, mass distribution, oscillation amplitude, and spring stiffness on the resulting harmonic motion.

The unit allows modification of different experimental variables, including applied torque, total moment of inertia, oscillation amplitude, and vibration frequency, expanding the possibilities for analysis and experimentation. Its versatility makes it suitable for both practical training in dynamics and mechanical vibrations and for research activities related to oscillatory systems. In addition, the unit can be wall-mounted when laboratory conditions require it.
