The Computer Controlled Cooling Plant with Ice Store, "TCPISC", has been designed by EDIBON as an advanced solution for in-depth, hands-on study of thermal storage refrigeration systems using ice. This technology is widely implemented in industrial and commercial facilities to improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs, as it allows cold to be produced during off-peak hours (with lower electricity costs) and used during periods of high demand.
The "TCPISC" enables users to simulate, observe, and analyze the various operating modes of a real refrigeration plant with an ice storage system. Students can study the working principles of the refrigeration cycle (compression, condensation, expansion, and evaporation), as well as the ice tank charging and discharging processes. Thanks to the integrated sensors, real-time monitoring of variables such as temperature, pressure, flow rate, and energy consumption is possible, allowing thermal balances and system efficiency evaluations.
From a construction standpoint, the unit is built on a robust modular structure made of anodized aluminum profiles and painted steel panels, ensuring durability and easy access to all components. The main metallic elements are made of stainless steel to ensure corrosion resistance and long service life. The front panel includes a schematic diagram of the system, helping users to visually understand each part of the circuit.
The "TCPISC" is composed of a set of components that accurately simulate a real industrial refrigeration plant with cold storage. The unit includes a refrigeration circuit with compressor, condenser, evaporator, and expansion valves, along with an ice storage tank. Additionally, it features a wet cooling tower and a dry cooler, allowing the study of heat dissipation under different climate and operating conditions. Operating modes can be selected using manual valves, enabling comparative analysis of various configurations.
All sensors (temperature, pressure, flow, and power consumption) are connected to the SCADA system developed by EDIBON, which allows real-time data visualization, set point adjustment, and historical data recording. This makes the "TCPISC an excellent solution for both technical training and applied research projects.
This Computer Controlled Unit is supplied with the EDIBON Computer Control System (SCADA), and includes: The unit itself + a Control Interface Box + a Data Acquisition Board + Computer Control, Data Acquisition and Data Management Software Packages, for controlling the process and all parameters involved in the process.
