5.3.- ENERGI TERBARUKAN

Energi terbarukan adalah sumber energi yang bersih, tidak terbatas, dan semakin kompetitif. Merupakan sumber energi yang didasarkan pada penggunaan sumber daya alam: matahari, angin, air atau tumbuhan atau hewan biomassa. Mereka berbeda dari bahan bakar fosil terutama dalam keanekaragaman, kelimpahannya dan berpotensi untuk digunakan di bagian mana pun di planet ini, tetapi terutama karena fakta bahwa mereka tidak menghasilkan gas rumah kaca.

Berkat pengembangan energi terbarukan, adalah mungkin untuk memerangi perubahan iklim dan menghindari dampaknya yang menghancurkan. Pemanasan global akibat gas rumah kaca adalah fakta dan itulah mengapa salah satu tujuan yang ditetapkan oleh Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa adalah mencapai akses universal ke listrik pada tahun 2030.

Terdapat berbagai jenis energi terbarukan seperti energi angin, energi fotovoltaik, tenaga air, biomassa dan biogas, energi panas bumi, energi pasang surut, tenaga gelombang, bioetanol dan biodiesel.

Mengingat pentingnya energi terbarukan, keunggulan utamanya harus ditekankan: mereka tidak mengeluarkan gas rumah kaca, tidak habis-habisnya dan semakin murah, kurangi ketergantungan energi, dan memiliki cakrawala politik yang menguntungkan.

Karena perkembangan energi terbarukan dan kebutuhan untuk menciptakan sistem tenaga yang lebih efisien dan fleksibel, pembangkit yang terdesentralisasi menjadi semakin banyak populer. Inilah asal mula konsep Micro-Grids. Mereka adalah sistem pembangkit listrik dua arah, sebagian besar didasarkan pada energi terbarukan, yang mendistribusikan listrik dari berbagai titik pembangkit energi ke konsumen melalui teknologi digital dan mendukung integrasi terbarukan energi.

Berkat evolusi teknologi yang telah memunculkan energi terbarukan dan desentralisasinya, kendaraan listrik dapat diintegrasikan dalam masyarakat saat ini. Pada gilirannya, ini telah mengurangi gas rumah kaca (CO2) dan biaya secara signifikan serta meningkatkan keandalan sistem kelistrikan.
